Nice analysis and the conclusions about being skeptical about policy research is very well taken. Of course it needs to be applied across the ideological spectrum. The research behind building "the Wall," and need for voter ID and other restrictions on voting, and the "Tax Cuts for the Rich and Deficits Act f 2017" probably would not withstand Lasker's style of analysis.
I think you are pretty badly mangling what Dylan Mathews wrote in that vox article.
